Write better prompts, instantly.

AutoPrompt uses AI to turn rough, plain text into clear, powerful prompts — right inside any text box on the web. No copy-pasting, no switching tabs.

Up and running in 30 seconds

Three steps and you're refining prompts like a pro.

1

Type or paste your rough idea

Go to any website (ChatGPT, Claude, Gmail, Notion…) and type your rough prompt or question into a text field.

2

Press your shortcut

Hit Ctrl + Shift + Q (or your custom shortcut). AutoPrompt captures your text and sends it to the AI.

3

Review and accept the enhanced prompt

The Floating Refiner appears with a polished version. Fill in any context hints, then click Accept — it's injected right back into your text field.

💡

Prefer the mouse? You can also right-click any selected text and choose "Refine with AutoPrompt" from the context menu.

The Floating Refiner

When you trigger AutoPrompt, a sleek overlay appears on top of the page. Here's what you'll see:

AI-Enhanced Text

Your rough text is transformed into a clear, specific prompt with the right structure and wording.

One-Click Accept

Hit Accept and the refined prompt is automatically placed back in the text field you were using.

Works Everywhere

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Gmail, Notion, Slack — any website with a text input field.

Escape to Close

Changed your mind? Press Esc or click Discard to close without changing anything.

Personalize Your Prompt

Sometimes the best prompt needs a little context that only you know. AutoPrompt asks for exactly that — nothing more.

When the AI detects that your prompt could be more specific, it adds smart placeholders like [Client Name] or [Deadline]. The right-hand panel lets you fill these in before accepting.

1

The right panel appears automatically

When context variables are present, the Personalise panel slides open beside the refiner. Each variable has a clear label and helpful examples.

2

Fill in what's relevant to you

Type into any of the input fields. The preview on the left updates live as you type — you can see exactly how the final prompt will look.

3

Blanks are removed automatically

Any variable you leave empty is quietly removed from the final text — so your prompt always reads naturally, never with awkward gaps.

💡

Only the most important context inputs are shown by default. Less critical ones are hidden behind a "Show more" button so the panel stays clean.

Context-Aware Refinement

AutoPrompt remembers your recent prompts so each refinement can build on what came before.

Learns from your session

Up to 10 recent prompts are kept as context, helping the AI understand the theme of your current work.

Smarter refinements over time

The more you use AutoPrompt in a session, the better it understands your style and goals.

Clear anytime

Use the Clear History button in the refiner footer to wipe the context and start fresh.

Toggle it off

Not everyone wants context. Head to Settings → Behavior and flip the Context-aware refinement toggle off.

🔒

Context history is stored locally in your browser and never sent to any server independently. It's only included as part of the refinement request to improve AI quality.

Keep Refining, Step by Step

One enhancement is just the beginning. After accepting a refined prompt you can trigger AutoPrompt again — and again — to keep pushing the quality further.

1

Accept your first enhanced prompt

Hit Accept as normal. The refined text is now sitting in your text field, ready to use — or ready to improve further.

2

Trigger the shortcut on the refined text

Without clearing the field, press Ctrl+Shift+Q again. AutoPrompt picks up the already-enhanced text and sends it through another pass.

3

Each cycle builds on the last

The AI refines what it is given — so every iteration starts from a stronger base. Two or three passes can turn a decent prompt into a precisely scoped, highly effective one.

💡

Use with Context Awareness for best results: each accepted prompt is added to your session history, so the AI understands the direction you're heading and can refine more intelligently on the next pass.

Custom Keyboard Shortcut

The default shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Q can be changed to anything you like.

Auto-accept Enhanced Prompt

Skip the review step entirely. When on and no personalization inputs are needed, the refined prompt is accepted automatically.

Common Questions

The shortcut doesn't work on some pages — why?

A few websites (like the Chrome Web Store itself) block extensions from injecting content scripts. This is a Chrome security restriction we can't override. Try it on another site.

Can I use AutoPrompt in any language?

Yes! The AI handles any language you write in. Just type your prompt in your preferred language and the refined version will come back in the same language.

What does "Auto-replace original text" actually do?

When enabled (default), hitting Accept clears your original text and puts the refined version in its place. When disabled, the refined text is appended or inserted depending on the text field.

I ran out of daily requests. What now?

Your quota resets at midnight UTC. If you need more, you'll see a limit-reached message in the refiner. You can keep using AutoPrompt again from the next day.

Is my text sent to any server?

Yes — your selected text is sent to our AI backend to generate the refined prompt. We don't store your prompts permanently. Please avoid refining sensitive personal data.

How do I remove AutoPrompt from Chrome?

Go to chrome://extensions, find AutoPrompt, and click Remove. All locally stored settings will be erased.
